Sydney Build 2024 - Oliver Kinross

At the beginning of May the Connected Event Group team was on-site at #SydneyBuild2024, Australia’s largest construction and design show. As the technical partner for the event we supplied a series of AV solutions and support to the Event Organiser, Oliver Kinross.

The Challenge

For this year’s event, our primary objective was setting up and operating 13 in-exhibition theatrettes. Each theatrette ran as a mini-conference with their own agenda, including individual presenters and numerous panel discussions. While running the stages, our team was responsible for coordinating the speakers' content on the go, ensuring that this content played smoothly on the screens with crisp audio.

The Solution

As the theatrette’s had no walls separating them from the event floor, they provided a creative challenge to the team to ensure that the speakers were able to be heard clearly by those in the stage audiences. Due to their open nature we were competing with an extreme level of ambient noise from a lively exhibition space - chatter from those walking around the event, live music, and a roving dj to name just a few.

Alongside running the stages, we decked out the other designated “zones” of the event such as the Networking Hub and Sydney Build Bar. We also had additional technicians on-site during show days ensuring our equipment was working correctly and providing technical support where required.

Sydney Build is Australia's largest construction & design show taking over Halls 1-4 and Halls 6-7 of the ICC Sydney. Due to being such a large show, it was imperative that the team was well organised and spread out across the venue to keep everything operating seamlessly.

This year's event was a huge success having had record breaking attendance with 24,727 attendees. We are already counting down to Sydney Build 2025!

The Results

"

Thanks once again for your help on Sydney Build, the team were very happy with your work and I understand that it's a hard job with so many stages and last minute changes.
